Random Thump Noise From Roof
There are loud banging noises coming from our attic roof.
Random thump noise from roof. When you hear noises in your roof what do you do. I m having a hard time figuring out what the heck it could possibly be. There is a weird thumping noise coming from what sounds like the roof or attic. Most likely the cause of the noise is expansion and contraction of the material used for the new roof.
Most of the noises seem to be coming from the top of the walls. As i sit here in bed trying to get some sleep i cannot. Could be anything from solar heating causing expansion and subsequent cooling of metal roofing thermal or moisture cycling of the joists noise from an attic mounted furnace air conditioner or water heater creaking air ducts a large animal taking up residence like a racoon or as extreme as overloading of a weakened roof or ice. Anyone else having this problem or know what it could be.
Lately ive been hearing this thump like an acorn falling on the roof. It comes from all around the room. What s that attic noise part 1 duration. If it s coming from the radiators you may have condensed steam.

If the humming light is on a dimmer switch or the dimmer switch itself is humming replace the bulb with a different type of bulb or one made by a different company. It does when its been out in the sun for a while. We d bet that as part of the roofing job either the roofer added or replaced some wood. It actually sounds like the roof could rip off the house.
